At the invitation of the German Federal Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister Robert Golob participated in an informal discussion with other leaders this afternoon, focusing on the recent surge in energy prices in Europe due to the situation in the Middle East.

Prime Minister Robert Golob, together with Minister of Defence Borut Sajovic, visited the Training Centre for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief of the Republic of Slovenia – Pekre Unit, where he was briefed on the unit’s tasks and operations.

Prime Minister Robert Golob and the Minister of Health, Valentina Prevolnik Rupel, visited the newly renovated Nursing Department at the Maribor University Medical Centre in Slivniško Pohorje. He also attended the ceremony for laying the foundation stone of the new Department of Infectious Diseases building at the Maribor University Medical Centre.

Slovenia and Colombia held online political consultations, led by Dr Melita Gabrič, State Secretary at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and Dr Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir, Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs of Colombia.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food today presented details on the use of the Slovenian flag on agricultural products and food introduced by the new Food Act. In a world of crowded shelves and unclear labels, the use of the Slovenian flag will mark the distinction between what is merely packaged in Slovenia and what is truly created, reared, grown and processed in Slovenia.

The 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) is taking place in New York from 9 to 19 March 2026. Slovenia is represented by a delegation led by the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Samuel Žbogar.

Prime Minister Robert Golob attended an event to mark International Women's Day. Organised by the Ljubljana City Committee of the Union of the Associations for the Values of the National Liberation Movement of Slovenia (ZZB NOB), the event was held under the patronage of Zoran Janković, the Mayor of Ljubljana. In his keynote address, Prime Minister Golob emphasised the importance of freedom and security — values that exemplify the challenges women have faced throughout history.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs continues to provide consular assistance to Slovenian citizens. Those who are unable to return from otherwise safe destinations due to air traffic disruption in the Middle East are advised to seek alternative routes home with the assistance of their airline ticket providers.

The consular services will be available on Friday, 27 March 2026, at Consulate General Edinburgh, 165 Craigcrook Road, Edinburgh EH47SU.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has withdrawn its two diplomatic staff members from Tehran, capital of Iran. The ambassador and a diplomat are now safe in Azerbaijan, from where they will be returning to Slovenia.

“Empowering women and girls, and promoting equal opportunities for women and men are among the cross-cutting priorities of Slovenia's foreign policy, as well as being among my personal goals. I am proud that we have taken several concrete steps forward in this area during the current term of office,” said Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon on International Women's Day.

We would like to inform Slovenian citizens who are currently stranded in the Middle East and the Gulf that airspace is gradually reopening. Consequently, an increasing number of commercial flights are available for those wishing to return home. However, the Ministry remains available to provide consular assistance.

With the arrival of two aircraft from Riyadh this evening, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia has completed the evacuation of Slovenian citizens who were stranded in the crisis area in the Middle East due to the ongoing war.

Prime Minister Robert Golob began the second part of the Government’s visit to the Osrednjaslovenska region with a visit to the new residential neighbourhood in Zelena jama in Ljubljana, which provides 87 public rental apartments in four buildings, along with a shared communal area and landscaped park space.

To help Slovenian citizens in the Middle East, Slovenia has arranged two extra repatriation flights with FlyDubai from the United Arab Emirates. We have now begun contacting citizens in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana, organised an event entitled Presentation of the first Voluntary Report of the Republic of Slovenia on the Implementation and Dissemination of Knowledge of International Humanitarian Law.

A new Cooperation Agreement between the Visegrad Patent Institute and the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office on Search Cooperation has been signed. The Agreement enables patent applicants in Slovenia to obtain a search report accompanied by a written opinion for national patent applications, in accordance with the standards applied under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
