  • 10th Anniversary International Day of Genocide Prevention

    In 2015, the UN General Assembly, on the initiative of Armenia, passed a resolution establishing 9 December as the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was one of the first treaties addressing respect for human rights and was adopted one day before the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, on 10 December 1948. Commemoration and memorialisation efforts not only honour the victims and survivors of genocide, but also serve as effective mechanisms for the prevention of future genocides.

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has published a call for proposals in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia for the revitalisation of public infrastructure facilities in border problem areas for 2026. With this call for proposals, worth a total of €7.5 million, Slovenia is addressing the issue of abandoned and dilapidated buildings that spoil the area’s appearance and no longer serve their purpose.

    The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Sajovic, accepted an invitation from the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, to pay an official visit to Ukraine on 3 and 4 December with his delegation that also included the Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Robert Glavaš.     182nd Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the draft Act on Salaries and Remuneration of Public Employees and Officials Related to Work Abroad, and the draft amendment to the Act on the First Pension Fund of the Republic of Slovenia and the Transformation of Authorised Investment Companies. It also adopted a decision on claiming partial reimbursement of wage compensation for reduced working hours.

  • Important milestones and targets that enabled Slovenia to receive EUR 440 million for recovery and resilience

    Among the 27 milestones and targets whose fulfilment enabled Slovenia to receive funds under the fourth payment request within the Recovery and Resilience Facility are the introduction of a crisis short-time working scheme, changes to labour market regulation and the pension reform. For the successful implementation of these measures, Slovenia received EUR 400 million in grants and EUR 40 million in loans.
