Prime Minister Robert Golob attended the December meeting of the European Council in Brussels, where leaders agreed to ensure financial support to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027 through joint borrowing on the capital markets, with loan guarantees provided by the EU budget.

Prime Minister Robert Golob is attending the December meeting of the European Council in Brussels. The summit will focus on the discussion regarding financial support for Ukraine for 2026 and 2027 in the context of intensive diplomatic efforts for a lasting and just peace in Ukraine, which has been the subject of intense debate at the highest levels in recent weeks.

At today's session, the Government adopted the Decree laying down more detailed rules and criteria for granting state aid to the media and set out the text of the proposed Resolution on the National Healthcare Plan in Slovenia 2026–2035. It also gave its consent to the promotion of Brigadier Boštjan Močnik to the rank of General.

Prime Minister Golob today hosted Evangelical Bishop Aleksander Erniša and his predecessor Leon Novak.

At today’s session, the Government adopted several draft acts, including draft acts on the Slovenian Press Agency, on the developmental restructuring of the Savinja–Šalek coal region, and on nursing and midwifery. Brigadier MSc Boštjan Močnik was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces.

Today, at the invitation of the Commander of the Civil Protection of the Republic of Slovenia, Srečko Šestan, the Prime Minister attended the expanded final session of the Civil Protection Headquarters at the Training Centre for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief of the Republic of Slovenia in Ig.

The Government visited the Zasavje region. In the morning, it held a regular session in Hrastnik, followed by separate programmes of individual ministers. In the afternoon, a consultation with mayors and business representatives on regional challenges took place in Zagorje.

Prime Minister Robert Golob concluded the Government's visit to the Zasavje region with a visit to the Polde Eberl-Jamski Care Home in Izlake.

Today, Prime Minister Robert Golob also attended the ceremonial opening of the new hospital building, the Rainbow House, of the Šentvid pri Stični Children's Hospital. Prime Minister Golob was the keynote speaker at the event.

Prime Minister Robert Golob began today's regional visit to Zasavje with a government session, which this time took place in Hrastnik.

At today's session, the Government adopted the draft Employee Participation in Profit Sharing Act, which reduces administrative burdens, introduces fairer taxation and allows for greater employee participation in profit sharing. The Government also took note of the information on the implementation of long-term care.

Prime Minister Robert Golob visited the Šiška Care Home where he met employees and residents to discuss their first experiences of the new long-term care system and further steps for its efficient implementation.

At today’s session, the Government adopted the draft Act on Salaries and Remuneration of Public Employees and Officials Related to Work Abroad, and the draft amendment to the Act on the First Pension Fund of the Republic of Slovenia and the Transformation of Authorised Investment Companies. It also adopted a decision on claiming partial reimbursement of wage compensation for reduced working hours.

Prime Minister Robert Golob and President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar met today for their regular working discussion, during which they exchanged views on key domestic and international developments.

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, marked on 5 December, Prime Minister Robert Golob attended the 15th Slovenian Volunteering Congress today, where he also addressed the attendees.

Today, Prime Minister Robert Golob attended a reception for representatives of organisations of people with disabilities at Brdo pri Kranju, where he also delivered the keynote speech.

Prime Minister Robert Golob met with the German Federal Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, in Berlin. This was Prime Minister Golob's first official visit to Berlin since Friedrich Merz's appointment as Federal Chancellor in May this year.

The Government visited the Podravje region. At its regular session held during the visit, it endorsed several important legislative and financial measures – ranging from strategic investments at the University of Maribor to amendments to cohesion policy, housing and healthcare measures, and a new regulatory framework for the wine sector. Separate programmes of members of the Government followed, and the day concluded with a consultation with mayors and business representatives on the key challenges facing the region.

As part of the Government visit to Podravje, Prime Minister Robert Golob attended the laying of the foundation stone for the Centre of Excellence for Photonic, Micro and Nano Electronic Technologies. This centre is one of the first and most significant projects to be implemented under the INNOVUM programme, a broader initiative of the University of Maribor. The Prime Minister also addressed the audience.
