    Prime Minister Dr Golob: The success of responsible politics is measured by the strength of its results

    At today’s press conference, Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob and Deputy Prime Ministers Luka Mesec, Klemen Boštjančič and Matej Arčon reviewed the past term of office. They stressed that, after four years and despite uncertain geopolitical circumstances, Slovenia is a more stable, safer and developmentally stronger country than it was at the beginning of the term. They also highlighted concrete results: preserved public finances, higher wages and pensions, low unemployment, and increased investment in infrastructure, science, development, housing, resilience and local projects.

  • European recovery and resilience funding – Together towards the goal: a more resilient labour market

    At the beginning of 2026, Slovenia entered the final year of implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP). With the support of funding from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under NextGenerationEU, ministries and their stakeholders have already successfully completed a significant number of reforms, as well as several investments. This edition presents the results and impact of measures aimed at strengthening the labour market.

    We have entered the final year of implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), with many measures already successfully completed. In a series of publications entitled Together towards the goal, we will highlight the results achieved in Slovenia with the support of funding from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under NextGenerationEU. This edition focuses on the reform and investment aimed at strengthening the public rental housing stock.

  • Important milestones and targets that enabled Slovenia to receive €440 million for recovery and resilience

    Among the 27 milestones and targets whose fulfilment enabled Slovenia to receive funds under the fourth payment request within the Recovery and Resilience Facility are the introduction of a crisis short-time working scheme, changes to labour market regulation and the pension reform. For the successful implementation of these measures, Slovenia received €400 million in grants and €40 million in loans.

  • Housing policy with new momentum: €100 million annually for public rental housing

    Slovenia is facing a severe housing crises: young people are living longer at their parents’ homes, housing prices and rents are soaring, and public rental housing is scarce. The Ministry for a Solidary Future has systematically addressed housing policy. As State Secretary in the GOVSI podcast, the government is investing €100 million each year in the construction of new public rental apartments.

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Quality and competency assessment in long-term care – Quality long-term care.

  • Seven new public rental housing units in Tolmin

    Minister Simon Maljevac attended today's ceremony marking the opening of seven new public rental housing units in Tolmin. These were built with the help of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan in the amount of EUR 614,000, provided by the Ministry of a Solidarity-Based Future. The cost of renovating the building, which also houses a museum depot, is approximately EUR 1.2 million.

    Prime Minister Robert Golob visited the 114 call centre with Minister of Solidarity-Based Future Simon Maljevac and Minister of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Luka Mesec.

  • Government approves pension reform proposal

    The Government adopted the text of the proposed Act Amending the Pension and Disability Insurance Act. Amendments are necessary primarily to adapt the system to the ageing population, while the reform is also part of commitments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

  • Novo mesto gains 186 new public rental housing units

    186 new public rental housing units were opened today in the Podbreznik neighbourhood of Novo Mesto, built by the Housing Fund of the Republic of Slovenia and the Novo mesto Municipality. This is one of the largest public housing projects in the Dolenjska region.

  • Five new public rental housing units in Pivka

    Minister of a Solidarity-Based Future Simon Maljevac, together with Mayor Robert Smrdelj, today opened five new public rental housing units in Pivka. The purchase and renovation of the building was supported by the Ministry with funds from the European Recovery and Resilience Plan.

    The Ministry of a Solidarity-Based Future continues to be successful in absorbing funds of the European Recovery and Resilience Plan for housing construction this year. The ministry made all the necessary preparations to ensure that the majority of the projects for constructing homes for the elderly could be co-funded by EU funds next year.

    The Ministry of a Solidarity-Based Future produced a package of measures to stimulate employment in social care institutions. The measures were adopted by a broad social and political consensus. The Act was enacted at the National Assembly’s 77th extraordinary session.

  • EU funding for cooperation between employment offices, social work centres and other stakeholders

    The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the operation Strengthening cooperation between the employment offices, the social work centres and other stakeholders in the integration in the labour market of the long-term unemployed.

  • Guidelines for the mainstreaming of gender equality in development cooperation now available in English

    The Guidelines for the Mainstreaming of Gender Equality in Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid, endorsed by the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon in May 2023, are now also available in English. This has made the Guidelines accessible to all implementing NGO partners and institutions carrying out development cooperation projects in partner countries.

    Draft Act Determining Intervention Measures for Flood and Landslide Recovery of August 2023

    The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has set out the text of the draft Act Determining Intervention Measures for Flood and Landslide Recovery of August 2023 and is sending it to the National Assembly for consideration under the urgent procedure. The adoption of the draft Act will allow for the taking of urgent and effective measures to deal with the consequences of floods and landslides.

    The 111th Session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva from 5 to 16 June 2023, is attended annually by members of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in a tripartite configuration of representatives of governments and workers’ and employers’ organisations. Important decisions, including the Recommendation concerning quality apprenticeships, were discussed and adopted by the conference in committees and plenary sessions.
