The Ministry of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for a call for proposals aimed at promoting the development and deployment of new business models and processes based on the principles of circular economy and digitalisation. Over €13.3 million will be allocated from the European Regional Development Fund to support the implementation of the call.

Pursuant to a decision of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, Matej Grum assumed the duties of Acting Director of the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia on 1 August 2026.

The Minister of the Economy, Labour and Sport, Dr Anže Logar, has signed decisions and contracts allocating funds to beneficiaries under the Public Call for Co-financing the Implementation of the Annual Programme of Sport at National Level for 2026. More than €19 million will be allocated for the implementation of this programme, representing the highest level of funding to date.

Slovenian companies will now be able to use intellectual property as collateral under SID Bank's new financing programmes. This is the result of several years of systematic work by the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office in the fields of intellectual property (IP) valuation and IP-backed finance, marking an important step towards greater recognition of knowledge and innovation in access to capital.

Slovenian cuisine has once again achieved remarkable international recognition. For the seventh consecutive year, the globally renowned Michelin culinary guide has recognised the best Slovenian restaurants, reaffirming the exceptional quality, sustainable focus and diversity of Slovenia's cuisine. This year's guide recommends 74 restaurants, ten of which have earned a total of 13 Michelin stars.

Many of the measures introduced in Slovenia under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, implemented with the support of EU funds under the Recovery and Resilience Facility – NextGenerationEU, have already been successfully completed or will be by August 2026. Most of the activities related to measures aimed at increasing productivity and fostering a business-friendly environment for investors have also been completed.

The central theme of this year's event was how companies can capitalise on Slovenia's reputation, which its athletes help build. Slovenia is playing in the top league on the global stage, and it is up to us to step onto that stage as competitors who have come to win, emphasised Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Labour and Sport Anže Logar, in his opening remarks.

Today we celebrate the first Lipizzaner Day, which was proclaimed by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia earlier this year. For Slovenia, 19 May holds special historical and cultural significance, as it marks the founding of the Lipica Stud Farm in 1580.

Since the onset of tensions in global energy markets, the Government has been closely monitoring developments and has taken measures to ensure that fuel storage facilities remain adequately stocked. However, developments over the past two days have required the Government to intervene more directly in the logistics infrastructure. The Government has therefore adopted measures to enable fuel distributors to resupply service stations more efficiently.

A significant number of measures under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), implemented in Slovenia with support from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under NextGenerationEU, have already been successfully completed. The EU and India have concluded negotiations on a historic, ambitious and commercially significant free trade agreement. Slovenia welcomes the signing of the Partnership Agreement (EMPA) and the Interim Trade Agreement (ITA) between the European Union (EU) and Mercosur. This evening's ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the Planica Nordic Centre, entitled Ten years of pride. Pride for the future, celebrated the achievements of the first decade of this unique sports centre and highlighted its great importance for Slovenian sport, tourism and the country's international visibility.
