EU funding for Tolmin wastewater treatment plant upgrade

The Ministry of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for upgrading the Tolmin wastewater plant. The project will receive over €2.1 million from the Cohesion Fund.

The investment covers the expansion and technological modernisation of the Tolmin wastewater treatment plant, which will increase its capacity to treat municipal wastewater more efficiently and reliably. More specifically, the capacity of the Tolmin wastewater treatment plant will increase from the current 7,500 population equivalents to 9,600 population equivalents, and the existing treatment technology will be upgraded with the introduction of SBR technology. The upgrade will ensure adequate capacity to handle current and future system loads and improve the efficiency of removing organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus.

The project is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 and will receive Cohesion Fund support.

The €4,549,269.31 project will receive €2,145,633.75 from the Cohesion Fund. The Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning is responsible for the implementation of the project. The beneficiary of the funding is the Municipality of Tolmin.
