End of the largest diplomatic conference in Slovenia for the adoption of the Ljubljana-Hague Convention

Between 15 and 26 May 2023, Slovenia hosted a diplomatic conference for the adoption of a Convention on International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes and Other International Crimes (MLA Convention).

If adopted, the MLA Convention will be the first major treaty in the field of international criminal law after the adoption of the Rome Statute in 1998, and will bear the name of Slovenia’s capital (Ljubljana-Hague Convention).

A two-week negotiations of experts in public international law and international criminal law for the adoption of a convention will end with the closing session today, 26. May 2023, with the expected start at 17.00. The participants will be addressed by Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister of Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Dr Dominika Švarc Pipan, Minister of Justice, and Dr Marko Rakovec, Secretary General of the Conference.
