Book Donation Ceremony at the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

On 20 July 2022, Ambassador Suhadolnik participated at the Book Donation Ceremony at the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. 

 

The books were donated by the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) to the East Asia Resource Library (EARL) of the University of Ljubljana. The Slovenian EARL is the central reference point for the researchers and students of East Asian languages and cultures in Slovenia and wider region. 

 

The Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in collaboration with the China Social Sciences Press, kindly donated a selection of academic books on China, from the various fields of expertise, such as politics, philosophy, social sciences, literature, and more. 

 

The donation ceremony opened with the speech of the director of the Institute of European Studies of the CASS, Mr. Feng Zhongping, followed by the speech of the Ambassador Alenka Suhadolnik, and Ms. Yu Weiping, the Deputy President of the China Social Sciences Press. Mr. Liu Zuokui, the Deputy Director and Research fellow of the Institute of European Studies, was the moderator of the event.  

 

Ambassador Suhadolnik made brief remarks on the thirtieth anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Slovenia and the People's Republic of China. Ms. Yu introduced the China Social Sciences Press and the wide range of fields of academic research it covers.

 

On the Slovenian side, the speakers were prof. Dr. Zlatko Šabič, the Director General of EARL, and the Head of the research unit at EARL, Dr. Marko Hočevar.   

 

The prospects of future collaboration between two academic institutions and wider collaboration between Slovenia and China were also explored.
