Prime Minister Robert Golob Meets with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg

Prime Minister Robert Golob met today with Austrian Minister of European and International Affairs, Alexander Schallenberg, who is paying a visit to Slovenia.

The interlocutors discussed relations between the two countries and key European issues with an emphasis on the energy situation as a result of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. They talked about the acquisition of alternative gas sources and assessed the possibilities of expanding the potential of the gas terminal in Croatia (LNG Krk) and Italy (Adriatic LNG, Rovigo).  The Prime Minister of Slovenia called for Austria to abolish controls on the internal Schengen border between Slovenia and Austria as soon as possible. Minister Schallenberg seized the occasion to convey the congratulations of Austrian Federal Chancellor Nehammer to Prime Minister Golob, and invited Mr Golob to visit Austria.

Slovenia and Austria foster a regular and intense dialogue, which also includes regular contacts between the two ministers responsible for foreign affairs. Austria is an important economic and political partner of Slovenia. It is the top investor country in Slovenia and its 4th most important export partner.
