Director-General for EU Affairs Sušnik holds talks with Hungarian Deputy State Secretary for the Development of European Affairs

The high officials first acknowledged the strong relations between the two countries and constructive dialogue at all levels of cooperation. They devoted particular attention to the review of progress on joint infrastructure projects, to the dynamics of economic cooperation and to ensuring the rights of national communities on both sides of the border. In the economic field, they highlighted cooperation at the International Trade Fair in Celje, which will take place on 15 September, this year with Hungary as a partner country.

Director-General Sušnik and Deputy State Secretary Magyar exchanged information on the COVID-19 pandemic in both countries and measures to contain it, and called for continued close cooperation and coordination in addressing the pandemic. They also discussed current EU topics, paying particular attention to the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Conference on the Future of Europe, migration, and the debate on the rule of law in the EU and in individual member states, as well as the situation in the Western Balkan countries and their EU integration. In the regional context, they picked out the successful cooperation of Slovenia and Hungary within the Visegrád Group (V4).
