EU funding for equal access to distance education

  • Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a financial support decision for the programme “COVID19 – Additional assistive ICT technology for education process”. The programme, which falls in the framework of Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, will receive EUR 4 million of European Regional Development Fund support.

The programme, implemented by the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia (Arnes), focuses on establishing ICT infrastructure (information and communication technology) as the basis for distance education. This will enable equal access to education for those students and pupils not having adequate equipment for distance education. The investment aims to multiply the capacity of services (Arnes classroom, Arnes videoconferences, Arnes web, Arnes custom service and Arnes webmail). By funding the purchase of ICT clients and 4,220 laptops the project aims to enable pupils, students and teachers currently not having adequate equipment at home to participate in distance learning and teaching.
