Ministers Logar and Santos Silva gave an overview of the current situation in their respective countries, outlining the restrictive measures adopted to curb the spread of the virus and their envisaged easing in the coming weeks. They devoted special attention to the financing of steps intended to promote economic recovery and stressed the importance of a common agreement within the European Union, based on concerted measures and solidarity, in order for the Member States to abolish the restrictions.

The two ministers expressed readiness for close collaboration, relating to both bilateral cooperation and the groundwork for the trio presidency of the EU Council, which will have to take into account the new reality and face unforeseen new challenges within the Union and the international community at large.

Within the preparations for the trio presidency, Minister Logar will meet his German counterpart Heiko Maas in a virtual meeting on 29 April.
