    The European Mobility Week ended on Tuesday with a traditional car-free day which is also observed by several Slovenian municipalities. On that day, public transport in and around the capital city of Ljubljana, and the Park + Ride were free-of-charge.

  • European Mobility Week calls for choice of cleaner mode of transport this year

    The European Mobility Week, which is marked between 16 and 22 September this year, aims to reduce road motor traffic, which is also one of the largest polluters of the environment in Slovenia. "This year, too, full of challenges, has shown that together we can reduce the emissions of motorised traffic through walking, cycling and the use of public transport," Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec said ahead of the start of mobility week.

    Today, Slovenia celebrates the day of the return of Primorska to its homeland, commemorating the entry into force of the Paris Peace Treaty in 1947, with which the majority of Primorska people joined their homeland.   • Moon rock on display in Slovenia

    Due to cooperation with the US Embassy and NASA, the rock brought to Earth as part of the Apollo 17 mission to the Moon in 1972 can be seen in the Noordung Centre in Vitanje as of this Wednesday. As highlighted by Dominik Kobold, the director of the space centre, this is one of the most precious museum heritage exhibits ever to be put on display in Slovenia.

  • First Slovenian satellites launched into orbit

    After several postponements, the Vega rocket carrying the first Slovenian satellites, Nemo HD and Trisat, was launched today in French Guiana. This is also a historic moment for European science since no European rocket has so far been equipped with so many satellites.

  • Lunar stone on display at Noordung centre

    The Noordung Centre will have the honour to display until the end of 2020 one of the most precious exhibits to ever have arrived in Slovenia – a stone from the surface of the Moon. The item, handed to the institution by the US Embassy in Slovenia and NASA, is to be on display from 17 August until the end of the year.

  • 15th BSF to take place on 31 August

    The 15th Bled Strategic Forum international conference will take place on Monday, 31 August 2020 in Bled, Slovenia. The conference will be organised as a hybrid event, with a high-level segment taking place on-site while some discussions will be held online. In addition to the familiar livestreamed sessions, a strong digital component of this year’s conference will open the possibility of online participation allowing us to host speakers and participants are unable to travel to Bled in person, and to stimulate virtual audience engagement.

  • 30 years since the adoption of the Declaration of the Sovereignty of Slovenia

    It has been exactly 30 years since the then Slovenian Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Sovereignty of the Republic of Slovenia in 1990, whereby a one-year time limit was set for the adoption of a new constitution. The Assembly also tasked the Government with determining by September which Yugoslav laws would no longer be applicable in Slovenia.

  • The first ice cream made using Slovenian vanilla

    Ocean Orchids, which is based in Dobrovnik, presented the first ice cream made using Slovenian vanilla in collaboration with the chocolatier Podeželska čokoladnica Passer from Tešanovci. The vanilla was grown in a tropical garden in Dobrovnik and is an organic ingredient of the highest quality.
