Prime Minister receives representatives of Slovenian national minority in Austria

Prime Minister Robert Golob and Minister for Slovenians in Neighbouring Countries and Slovenians Abroad Matej Arčon met with representatives of the Slovenian national community in Austria.

At the meeting, the participants highlighted the efforts of the Slovenian national community to ensure quality education in the Slovenian language from the start of pre-school education to university education, and the issue of bilingual judiciary.

The Prime Minister emphasised Slovenia's consistent support for the efforts of minority representatives to regulate their rights under Article 7 of the Austrian State Treaty. He also made clear the importance of pre-school and school education in the Slovenian language for the existence and development of the national community. He believes that the reform of the bilingual judiciary in Austrian Carinthia, which was prepared together with representatives of Slovenian organisations, should be implemented as soon as possible. They also brought to the attention of the Prime Minister the negative consequences of Austria's temporary control of the border with Slovenia.
