State Secretary Raščan once again thanked Argentina for its unequivocal recognition of Slovenia’s independence 30 years ago, which also encouraged other Latin American countries to follow suit. He recalled the key role of the Slovenian community in Argentina, which remains one of the strongest links between the two nations and countries.

The officials expressed their satisfaction with the current standing of Slovenia-Argentina relations and hoped that they will continue to go from strength to strength, including through the exchange of visits to Ljubljana and Buenos Aires at both the political and working levels. An ideal opportunity for this will be provided at the fourth international “LAC Days” conference, which the Slovenian Foreign Ministry is planning to hold in the autumn.

State Secretary Raščan and Deputy Minister Tettamanti stressed the importance of cooperation between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with particular emphasis on relations between the European Union and Mercosur. Slovenia wished Argentina every success with their presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

They welcomed the successful multilateral cooperation between the two countries and their close collaboration in initiatives in relation to the rights of older people and mutual legal assistance (MLA). State Secretary Raščan also presented Slovenia’s decision to mount a bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2024–2025 term.
