Environment State Secretary
Marko Maver graduated in environmental policy and economics from the University of Maryland (USA) and obtained his master’s degree in globalisation and development and his PhD in international environmental protection law at the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom). He has published numerous professional articles and has lectured at universities and organisations abroad, primarily on the topic of environmental protection and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from industry.
He was employed as an advisor at Ernst & Young Slovenia and managed environmental projects organised by Bellona Europa aisbl, Brussels (Belgium); as a State Secretary at the Office of the Minister of the Environment and Spatial Planning he was engaged in the most demanding tasks of managing, advising on and designing key system solutions.
He has participated in major Slovenian projects, served a traineeship at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington, USA, during the Slovenian EU Council Presidency, and was also involved in organising the 5th Bled Strategic Forum.
In his spare time, he is a keen runner and aviation enthusiast; he encourages others to live a healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle.
