Part of the integration of the Municipality of Tolmin in the Alpine territory is its cooperation with the Municipality of Villach, and during Brežan's term of office as a Mayor, these two municipalities formally twinned. In 2017, the municipality was awarded the certificate of Youth-Friendly Municipality and in 2020 the Municipality of Health award, which is awarded by the National Institute of Public Health. In 2012, the Municipality of Tolmin was awarded the title of the most energy efficient municipality in the category of medium-sized municipalities. The Memorial Church in Javorca bears the prestigious European Heritage label since 2017.
