Directorate for Legislation on Organisation and for Justice Administration

The Directorate for Legislation on Organisation and for Justice Administration is involved in the drafting of legislative and regulatory proposals that provide the basis for the functioning of and decision-making by the judiciary and individual judges, State Prosecutor’s Offices and state prosecutors, and State Attorney’s Offices and state attorneys, for the protection of the right to trial without undue delay, for the functioning of attorneyship and notariat, for the preparation of nomination proposals and election of candidates as international court judges, for the provision of free legal aid, for the regulation of court fees, and for taking the state legal examination. The Directorate is also responsible for conducting procedures for the appointment and dismissal of notaries, court interpreters, court appraisers and court experts and mediators in criminal cases. It runs the recruitment procedures for the appointment of judicial office holders, prepares government material, takes part in procedures for appointing the heads of judicial authorities, monitors the preparation of judicial authority personnel plans, and analyses annual court work programmes and annual reports on court performance. It deals with and decides on complaints about the work of state prosecutors, state attorneys, attorneys and notaries and supervises the conduct of free legal aid, the operation of notaries and the Slovenian Chamber of Notaries.
