Breda Božnik

Breda Božnik, State Secretary at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia, graduated from the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Ljubljana, passed a professional examination in social assistance and a professional examination in the General Administrative Procedure Act, completed training as a supervisor, and obtained the title of social work supervisor, for which she has also obtained a licence from the Social Chamber of Slovenia.

As a qualified social worker, she has worked in various areas of social assistance, including with those from different vulnerable groups, participation and leadership in organising and running institutions, decision-making, problem-solving, staffing and management of financial resources, and making crucial decisions to improve institutions’ operations and promote their broader societal recognition. She is a long-standing member of the Social Chamber of Slovenia, having been elected and appointed Vice-President in 2018 and President of the Social Chamber of Slovenia in 2022 for the 2022–2024 term.

Prior to becoming State Secretary, she served as Director of two Austrian companies, OptimaMed Dialysis Centre Vojnik and SeneCura Home for Senior Citizens Vojnik, and as Deputy Commercial Director of the SeneCura Group for Slovenia.

In 2018, she was appointed State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the Republic of Slovenia, where she worked on social affairs, family matters, and people with disabilities and equal opportunities. As a public office holder, she has gained insight into the planning, preparation and management of national social policy at high levels.

She is pursuing her master's degree at the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Ljubljana.
