Dr Darjo Felda

Darjo Felda was born on 3 February 1956 in Koper. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana, and completed his doctoral studies in 2011 at the Faculty of Education of the University of Primorska.

After graduation, he taught mathematics and computer science at the Upper Secondary Construction School in Ljubljana, and from 1985 to 2003 he worked at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana. Since 2003 he has been working at the Faculty of Education of the University of Primorska, most recently as a full professor of the didactics of mathematics. From 2005 to 2019, he was Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Education of the University of Primorska, and from 2019 to 2022, he was Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the University of Primorska. From 1985 to 2012, he was a member of the Board of the Society of Mathematicians, Physicists and Astronomers of Slovenia. For more than 25 years, he has been leading mathematics competitions for upper secondary school students in Slovenia. From 1992 to 1998, he was the editor-in-chief of the journal Matematika v šoli (Mathematics at School), which is the central journal for the didactics of mathematics in Slovenia. From 2009 to 2021, he chaired the Committee for Mathematics for National Examinations, and since 2020 he has been a member of the National Committee for the General Matura.

Dr Felda has been involved in several projects on improving the quality and efficiency of education and training systems, in particular on the development of modern models for teaching and learning mathematics.
