Melita Župevc was born in 1978 in Trbovlje. She is a communication expert with more than 20 years of experience in journalism, public relations, politics and public affairs. Having begun her career as a daily news programme journalist, she then worked for several years in public relations, also as an advisor to the President of the Republic of Slovenia.

In 2008, Župevc was elected to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, where she served as deputy for two terms. Among other things, she was a member of the Foreign Policy and Defence Committees and chair of the Commission for Public Office and Elections. In recent years, she has been engaged in communication consulting for many international companies and projects in corporate and crisis communication.

A journalist and sociologist by profession, Župevc holds a master's degree in international relations. She upgraded her academic knowledge a few years ago by studying international strategy and diplomacy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. During her postgraduate studies, she mostly focused on the public diplomacy of international organisations and modern security threats.
