Monika Kirbiš Rojs, born on 4 August 1978, graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor in 2002. She continued her studies at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana and earned a master’s degree in economic sciences in 2005.
Ms Kirbiš Rojs started her professional career in 2002 at the Ministry of Finance working as advisor in the treasury department, and later worked for the NLB Bank. In 2006, Ms Kirbiš Rojs continued her career at the Government Office for Local Self-Government and Regional Policy heading the Cohesion Policy Office for several years. Between 2009 and 2012, Ms Kirbiš Rojs worked as head of the Development Projects and Investment Service at the Urban Municipality Maribor where she was responsible for developing project proposals for EU funding and managing development projects.
In February 2012, Ms Kirbiš Rojs was appointed State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology. Her work areas included EU Cohesion Policy, European Territorial Cooperation, regional development and regional planning.
In the beginning of 2014, after the end of the term, Ms Kirbiš Rojs was named head of the Economy Department at the Municipality Slovenska Bistrica. She also acted as director of the Development Information Centre Slovenska Bistrica.
Ms Kirbiš Rojs was appointed State Secretary at the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on 14 March 2020.
