The priority task of the Long-Term Care Directorate is to prepare systemic solutions concerning long-term care, including drafting a proposal for the act on long-term care and compulsory long-term care insurance. The purpose of systemic regulation is to ensure that beneficiaries with comparable needs will have access to comparable rights, which will mostly be financed from public funds. The Directorate also coordinates a pilot project carried out in the areas of Dravograd, Krško and Celje with the aim of seeking and testing new solutions to providing long-term care to any person who has been or will be dependent on others for a long period of time. It also carries out administrative supervision in social institutions.
