The Government Communication Division coordinates the Government’s public relations. This includes setting up a framework for the development of the Government’s public relations and drawing up strategic plans for communication and analytical activities. The Office also performs specialist work for the coordination of activities of public relations officers of ministries and other government offices.

The Office manages communication projects supporting government programmes and provides specialist technical assistance to ministries in the organisation and implementation of communication campaigns for key programme projects of the Government or ministries.

It manages relations (communication) with domestic and foreign media, directly communicates with citizens, cooperates with non-governmental organisations in certain communication projects and manages communication on joint EU projects in Slovenia.

The Office also plans crisis communication of the Government in the event of a crisis or emergency, participates in amending and updating national protection and rescue plans, and coordinates activities for tackling disinformation at the government level.
