Plant diseases and pests
Please note that this website is still under construction and that some of its contents may be incomplete. Thank you for your understanding.
Plant health is threatened by various diseases and pests from animals such as insects, nematodes and mites and from pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and fungi. Quarantinable diseases and pests, which are generally non-native species, are particularly dangerous for plants and plant products and, in new environments where they are not yet present, they can cause serious damage to the economy, society and the environment. Some of them are subject to specific measures to prevent introduction and spread and are under continuous official control.
