    The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tehran will be closed during Persian New Year holidays (Nowrooz) from 21 March to 23 March.

    The Prime Minister at the consultation of Slovenian diplomats: Slovenia should reassert itself as a full-fledged country of core Europe

    The Prime Minister, Dr Robert Golob, attended the 26th Consultation of Slovenian Diplomats at Brdo pri Kranju and addressed the heads of diplomatic and consular missions. He highlighted Slovenia's foreign policy priorities and called for unity in re-establishing Slovenia as a full-fledged country of core Europe. We must turn our foreign policy focus towards the world.

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon took part in the regular meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, chaired by High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The meeting focused on the Russian aggression against Ukraine and on the situation in Iran. A meeting of the EU-Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers was held in the morning in advance of the Council meeting.

    On this year's World Bee Day, Mr Mir Mohsen Mousavian, director of the National Union of Beekeepers of Iran, published a post on his Instagram page dedicated to the former Ambassador of Slovenia to Iran, H.E. Mrs. Kristina Radej, and her efforts to develop Iranian beekeeping and to connect Iranian and Slovenian beekeepers.

    On 3 May, Ambassador Kristina Radej completed her term of office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan based in Tehran.

  • The embassy's handover of beehives and beekeeping equipment to the Afghan Refugee School in Iran

    The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tehran has handed over six urban beehives to the school for Afghan girls, children of refugees in Karaj, Iran, which will be used by the fostered children for educational purposes and practical training. The purpose of the project, which began in 2019, is to familiarize the most vulnerable parts of the Iranian society, especially street children and children of Afghan refugees, with the opportunities offered by beekeeping and the production of honey and honey-based products.

    An exhibition on Slovenian author Vladimir Bartol and his novel Alamut was held at the Slovenian Embassy in Tehran; the original manuscript and opera were also presented. On this occasion, the embassy also officially opened a library for Alamut in Slovene and translations to 17 languages (French, Spanish, Croatian, Arabic, Korean, Portuguese, Turkish, Finnish, Bulgarian, Serbian, Slovak, German, Czech, Hungarian, English, Italian and Farsi).

    Due to the spread of the COVID-19 and the related restrictive measures adopted by the authorities, the MFA advises against all travel to the country. Slovenian citizens temporarily staying in Iran are advised to leave the country as soon as possible.

  • MFA on heightened tensions between US and Iran

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses grave concern over the heightening of tensions between the US and Iran. It condemns the recent acts of violence and armed attacks in Iraq, as these may trigger further disturbances engulfing the entire region. The Ministry calls on all parties involved to de-escalate tensions and preserve peace.
