A high-level delegation from Ukraine visited the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development. The focus of the multi-day trip was on the transfer of Slovenia's experience in implementing cohesion policy.

Minister Tanja Fajon concluded her visit to Ukraine with a meeting with her host, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. “Slovenia stands by Ukraine — not only in words but through concrete action,” she said. During the visit, she signed an agreement on technical and financial cooperation, providing a firm basis for a long-term partnership in Ukraine's reconstruction and development.

During her working visit to Ukraine, Minister Tanja Fajon visited humanitarian and development projects supported by Slovenia with official development assistance funds and opened a foster home for ten Ukrainian children. During the rest of her visit, which is taking place amid intense diplomatic efforts to end the war, she will meet with her host, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Dr Melita Gabrič, took part in the Ukraine Mine Action Conference in Tokyo, held under the auspices of the governments of Japan and Ukraine.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon participated in the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg, where ministers discussed the EU's role in peace efforts in Gaza, with an emphasis on humanitarian and security aspects. They also touched on the importance of continued comprehensive support for Ukraine. Minister Fajon will later attend a ministerial meeting on interregional security and connectivity.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon attended the opening of the general debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. On the same day, she also delivered addresses at two Security Council meetings concerning Ukraine and the Middle East. "In both cases, there is aggression – by the Russian Federation in Ukraine and by Israel in Gaza – directed against significantly smaller countries. This must end," she emphasised.

At the Informal Meeting of EU Ministers for Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen, under the Danish EU Presidency, ministers addressed the decision of the United States to deny visas to the Palestinian delegation to the UN General Assembly in September. Minister Fajon urged her EU counterparts to take measures against Israel, either by consensus or, if necessary, by qualified majority.

On 10 and 11 July, Rome hosted the Ukraine recovery Conference (URC 2025), the main international event taking place every year to coordinate help and support to Ukraine. The Slovenian delegation at the Conference was led by Ambassador Edvin Skrt, Director-General of the Directorate for International Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, is attending the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in The Hague as part of the Slovenian delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Robert Golob. She participated in the NATO-Ukraine Council Working Dinner in Foreign Ministers’ Session, which focused on the Allies' efforts for peace in Ukraine.

Minister Tanja Fajon participated in the EU Foreign Affairs Council to discuss the current situation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Iran, Israel and Gaza, Russian aggression against Ukraine, China and European security. The Minister also presented the joint contribution of the MED9 Group towards the preparation of the New Pact for the Mediterranean, which had been led by Slovenia.

At the fourth Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit in Odesa, Minister Tanja Fajon emphasised the urgent need for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, as well as the importance of securing a just and lasting peace. "A peace firmly rooted in the principles of the UN Charter. A peace that is acceptable to Ukraine. We will continue to work with Ukraine and our partners to achieve such a peace."

In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Embassy of Ukraine to the Republic of Slovenia, the Bled Strategic Forum organised a discussion entitled Lost childhoods, unwavering courage and hope for a bright future: Three years of Ukrainian resilience, in Ljubljana. The event was opened by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Slovenia, H.E. Petro Beshta.

The Forum of Slovenian-Ukrainian cooperation: Strengthening Partnership for Recovery and Rebuilding is taking place on 28–30 May in the Ukrainian city of Lviv, as part of the "U-LEAD with Europe" programme. The Forum brings together mayors and representatives of local governments, as well as political representatives and development experts from both countries.

At the regular meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Minister Tanja Fajon emphasized that "business as usual" with the Israeli government, which is bombing hospitals, destroying schools and turning refugee camps into dust, is no longer possible: "As humans, we must ask ourselves how long we will continue to watch the catastrophe in Gaza unfold before our eyes." The ministers also discussed the peace negotiations in Ukraine and the situation in Syria.

On 9 May 2025, State Secretary Dr Melita Gabrič participated in the informal meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers held in Lviv, Ukraine. She also took part in the meeting of the Core Group on the Establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.

Foreign ministers and their guests met in Warsaw during Poland's six-month presidency of the EU. There was ample opportunity for frank discussions on the world's key challenges, including the importance of closer foreign and security policy cooperation with the UK, efforts to achieve an unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine and further dialogue with the US in the light of the first 100 days of America First.

At the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, Minister Tanja Fajon called for more decisive action to bring about a ceasefire and a lasting and just peace in Ukraine, and for the return of more than 19,000 abducted Ukrainian children: “These are war crimes and clear violations of international law. This must remain a humanitarian priority and part of the peace negotiations.”

At the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Robert Golob attended the informal meeting of leaders on peace and security for Ukraine.

Prime Minister Robert Golob today attended, via a web lnk, the "Defence and Security Strategy of Unity" Summit, convened by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the third anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

"After three years of blatant violations of international law, Russian aggression must come to an end. A ceasefire must be achieved, along with adequate security guarantees for Ukraine. Slovenia remains committed to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, and both Ukraine and EU Member States must engage in negotiations," emphasised the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, on the third anniversary of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
