WEBVTT

00:00:03.740 --> 00:00:06.823
Congratulations
for the Statehood day.

00:00:07.570 --> 00:00:12.817
I was here in Kyiv two weeks after
the full-scale invasion of Russia.

00:00:12.900 --> 00:00:18.578
When last part of Europe was still
sceptical what had happened here.

00:00:19.830 --> 00:00:25.133
We, together with the Prime Ministers
of Czech Republic and Poland,

00:00:25.216 --> 00:00:28.432
wanted to
bring here a message.

00:00:28.750 --> 00:00:30.430
You are not alone.

00:00:30.540 --> 00:00:32.540
Your fight is our fight.

00:00:33.110 --> 00:00:35.859
And after returning from Kyiv,

00:00:35.943 --> 00:00:39.269
which was much colder
at the time than today,

00:00:39.352 --> 00:00:46.318
we told our friends
that Ukraine will never surrender

00:00:46.724 --> 00:00:48.417
and that you will win.

00:00:48.500 --> 00:00:51.583
Many other visits
followed after that.

00:00:52.156 --> 00:00:54.242
The support started to grow.

00:00:54.325 --> 00:00:58.075
At the beginning,
it was too little, too late.

00:00:58.808 --> 00:01:02.365
Now it's substantial,
it's crucial.

00:01:03.798 --> 00:01:08.311
Also the full membership
of the European Union

00:01:08.662 --> 00:01:10.715
is now becoming reality.

00:01:11.199 --> 00:01:13.917
At that time,
it was just a dream.

00:01:14.000 --> 00:01:17.500
But you have to be aware
that this happened

00:01:17.690 --> 00:01:21.196
only or mostly because of you.

00:01:21.965 --> 00:01:24.587
So, thank you
for your sacrifice.

00:01:24.990 --> 00:01:27.193
Congratulations
for your courage.

00:01:28.055 --> 00:01:29.655
Carry on.

00:01:30.026 --> 00:01:33.849
May Ukraine remain victorious.

00:01:34.797 --> 00:01:37.330
Let a just peace prevail.

00:01:38.615 --> 00:01:41.393
But we have to remember
that for a just peace,

00:01:42.334 --> 00:01:45.796
evil also has to be punished.

00:01:46.198 --> 00:01:49.581
Because unpunished evil
always returns.

00:01:50.870 --> 00:01:53.406
Thank you.
Slava Ukraini.
