The Direct Payments Division carries out Common Agricultural Policy measures in the area of direct payment schemes (the basic payment scheme, the young farmers scheme, the small farmers scheme, greening payments, production-coupled support schemes and payments for areas with natural constraints), and rural development programme measures (agri-environment-climate payments, payments for less favoured areas, animal welfare, organic farming and the measure of early retirement of farmers).

The Division uses appropriate software to consider applications and requests. With the help of a computerised system, it carries out administrative checks of information contained in applications, tracks changes to information provided and prepares reports.
